Last blog for the semester

I have had such a wonderful experience with my classroom observation. I have enjoyed my time with the students and watching the way they interact and behave. I learned many great techniques from the teachers. I can see the huge amount of preperation that goes into each day's lessons. For instance, a fifth grade teacher I observed taught the students a technique called SQ3R. She taught this while teaching a science class. The point was to show the students how to read a text book. First the students should Survey the sections they need to read, next read the questions at the end of the sections so they can focus on what they need to know, then read the actual sections, recite the important facts and review what was learned. It is clear that teaching is hard work but really worth it. I am looking forward to next semester and doing more observation.

  2. It is always a good feeling when you get to work with students and learn about how they interact. It's great that you got a chance to see the type of preparation that goes into lessons. Teachers never have the same lessons, so it always nice to see how teachers vary in how they conduct a classroom. I glad you enjoyed your fieldwork, I know I loved doing mine, and I can't wait to do more next semester.
